"It's a life's work to make a wine that is ultimately connected with a place and the people who farm it," asserts Mike, who has worked in the wine business his whole life. Even while growing up in New York, Mike worked for his father, Bruno Benziger, a wine and spirits importer. After college, he moved to California and began working at the fine wine shop Beltramos. His appreciation for wine grew and led him to a winery apprenticeship in 1978.
"I learned the wine business at the foot of the master," Mike reflects. "I was fortunate to have great mentors. When you learn in this way, you learn more than information--you learn respect and reverence for wine and vine." Mike Benziger

CSAs that drop off at Sip...a wine store
Coon Rock Farms has added Sip...a wine store to their list of drop-off sites. They deliver every Wedneday. The new Winter deliveries started in October .
Produce CSA: We offer a Produce CSA that gives you at least $25 worth of fresh, in-season, vegetables each week for 20 weeks starting in late April or early May (depending on weather) and running through September. The cost for the Produce CSA is $500.
Egg CSA: We offer an Egg CSA that is an add-on to the Produce CSA that gives you 1 dozen of our pasture raised, heritage breed eggs each week with your Produce CSA box. The cost of the Egg CSA add-on is $100.
Meat CSA: We offer a Meat CSA that gives you $80 of our pasture raised meats each month for 6 months. You can start the Meat CSA anytime and the cost for 6 months is $480 (plus $9.60 in NC meat tax).
Special Offer for returning subscribers: We are doing a special promotion for those customers who want to subscribe to all 3 CSA's (produce, meat, and eggs) for $1000 if paid in full by the end of January (an $89.60 savings). Getting the money in sooner helps us cover the startup expenses of spring planting and also reduces the time we spend on paperwork so it's a good deal for everyone. To take advantage of this offer, just send in the Produce/Egg subscription form and the Meat Subscription form filled out with your information and send one check for $1000.
Why a CSA? CSA customers get priority on our production because they have pre-paid and if there is excess CSA customers often get the extra in their box. This season's Winter CSA members have gotten $3 to $5 extra in most boxes so far. CSA customers also get items first. In summer, it's the heirloom tomatoes that go to the CSA before being available at our markets. The CSA is also a good choice for folks that just want a box of produce, eggs or meat to show up each week without having to think about it or plan ahead. It also works well for people who are strapped for time or can't get to markets because we deliver the CSA boxes to lots of locations throughout the triangle area including right to your home. In fact, one of the biggest draws of the CSA is our delivery locations and this year we have added lots of locations in Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, and Cary as well as an optional Home Delivery choice.
There are lmited number of spaces, so join today!
Farm to Fork Meats:
Are you searching for nutrient dense, farm fresh, sustainable foods produced right here in the Triangle? Farm to Fork Meats is a third-party Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program bringing you local, ethical meats, seafood, tea, coffee, cheese, produce, ice cream, gluten-free baked goods, and lots more. North Carolina farmers, ranchers and anglers are our partners.
All of us at Farm to Fork Meat work to minimize our carbon footprint and offer ethically raised meats including pasture raised pork, beef, chicken, duck, holiday turkeys, eggs, dairy products and grass fed lamb and veal! We support small anglers that offer you fresh, never frozen, 1-3 day trip local NC seafood every week. We also offer sustainably grown, beyond organic produce all year round.
We believe that we cannot have real food without real farmers and in this age of fast food and big business, our farmers are in crisis. We strive to protect and advocate for them and in turn, improve our health, our lives and our local economy.
What are the options, costs and benefits of being a member?
Commit to a $20 annual Membership Fee and a $25 Monthly CSA fee. The Membership fee is due upon sign up and then again every January 1st. This fee covers the costs of produce boxes, egg cartons, coolers, freezers and other items required to help store and transport goods to you safely each week.
The Monthly CSA fee of $25 ($6.25 per week) is exclusive of your weekly purchases. This is the money I earn to manage the CSA program. If you save one month's worth of your grocery bills to review you will see that you are already paying this amount of money (often you are paying even more) in sales tax when purchasing food every week. This fee allows me to keep low-to-no margins on the farm fresh food I deliver each week so you can buy these nutrient dense foods while supporting our sustainable local farms every week.
- Commit to a minimum $10 weekly purchase
- Order a la carte from our weekly offerings
- Receive meat consistently year round, including premium cuts and value-added products (deli cuts, hot dogs, sausages)
