Sip... a wine store calendar
Thursday, June 13th: Benziger Winery Master Class with Mike Benziger: 7pm to 9:30pm Sold Out!
Join us as we welcome Mike Benziger, Winegrower, General Manager and Tribute Winemaker for Benziger Winery. We are over the Biodynamic Moon with the fact that our little store gets to host such a winemaking Icon. This is a special event and we plan on pouring some their best wines. Call us at 919-467-7880 to reserve your spot. We will be pouring a special selection of wines and light appetizers will be served. Cost is $20.00 per person, no wine class vouchers will be accepted for this class.
"It's a life's work to make a wine that is ultimately connected with a place and the people who farm it," asserts Mike, who has worked in the wine business his whole life. Even while growing up in New York, Mike worked for his father, Bruno Benziger, a wine and spirits importer. After college, he moved to California and began working at the fine wine shop Beltramos. His appreciation for wine grew and led him to a winery apprenticeship in 1978.
"I learned the wine business at the foot of the master," Mike reflects. "I was fortunate to have great mentors. When you learn in this way, you learn more than information--you learn respect and reverence for wine and vine." Mike Benziger
Friday, June 14th: Wine Bar open, Local Brewery and live music: 5pm to 8pm.

Tuesday, June 18th: Pre-Release Tasting for a New Oregon Winery to NC: 6pm to 9pm:
Join Sip... a wine store and Sour Grapes Distributing for a special night. We would like to welcome a new winery to North Carolina. Omero Cellers from Oregon is an estate that farms consciously with the health and natural cycle of the vineyard and its ecosystem in mind. There is a focus on maintaining the natural bio-diversity of the land through minimal intervention, native cover crops and the integration of livestock.
Winemaker, Sarah Cabot, and business and vineyard manager David Moore, met while working at restaurants in the emerald city. Feeling unsettled in their career choices and driven by a desire to build rather than circulate, they made a change. Sarah went back to school at Washington’s Northwest Wine Academy to follow her passion for wine production. In 2007, she and David, drawn by their enthusiasm for both Pinot Noir and the white wines being produced in Oregon, made their way south. In 2008 they bought their first ton of grapes, made their first wine and haven’t looked back since.
Inspired by the zeal, energy and dedication of Sarah and David, David’s parents Bill and Staci Moore (who themselves had fallen in love with Oregon and its wines), founded Omero Cellars with Sarah and David by their side.
We will be sampling 1 Pinot Gris and 2 Pinot Noirs. These wines will not have landed in the state yet, so pre-orders can be placed for a 20% discount.
